Broward County ‘Go Solar’ event offers finance tips

Broward County is hosting a two-day convention starting Friday to advertise new grant programs for installation of solar panels and related infrastructure.

The event, called “Go SOLAR Fest” is being held at Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.

Keynote speaker Tom Tansy, chairman of Scotts Valley, Calif.-based SunSpec Alliance, talking about “Building a National Solar Market”

The county’s website for the free exposition says Go SOLAR Fest is for electrical contractors, installers and residents interested in bringing more solar energy to South Florida.

Topics will include permitting, financing, solar rights, zoning, net metering and interconnection.

Friday’s schedule starts at 7:30 a.m. with registration. Saturday’s starts at 8:30 a.m.
