CM wants Mianwali silicon to be used for solar panels

A REPRESENTATIVE delegation of HB Group International met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town on Friday.

 

Talking to the delegation, the CM said the government was endeavoring to overcome shortage of energy as soon as possible. He said government was working on various projects of generation of power from hydro, solar, wind, biogas, biomass, coal and other sources.

 

He said the HB Group International could also invest in energy sector in Punjab, adding that the HB Group International and provincial authorities should sit together and settle financial model and other issues for investment in solar power project.

 

The CM said such projects of power generation should be set up in Pakistan as could start production in the minimum time so that immediate relief could be provided to the masses. He said silicone used for manufacturing solar panels was available in Mianwali and government wanted foreign companies to utilize this silicone for production of solar panel in Pakistan.

 

Mr Kevin of HB Group International expressed desire to work with the Punjab government in energy sector. He said his group had set up solar energy plants in various countries of the world and also intended to invest in solar energy sector in Punjab. He gave a briefing on the activities of the group and investment in solar power plants in different countries.

 

Provincial Minister for Energy Sher Ali Khan, Advisor Azmul Haq, Neil Jones of HB Group, Rabia Zia, Sobia Zia, energy experts and officers concerned were also present.
