Kitchens and baths and gardens, oh my!

Visitors to the Spring Inspired Home Expo of Monterey next weekend will have the chance to meet experts on these particular indoor and outdoor topics and more. There will also be seminars and cooking demonstrations.

There’s no place like home — unless that home needs some improvement. The March 8-9 expo features general contractors, landscapers, landscape designers and painters, plus experts in subjects such as flooring, kitchen and bath, cabinets, closet organizers, countertops, tile, solar energy and appliances. “The show is a great place to gather ideas and get inspired with new ideas for your home,” says event co-organizer Heather Osgood of Simply Clear Marketing. “It’s fun to see new products and trends in the home improvement industry. We have more than 100 local home, garden and building professionals that homeowners can speak to face to face.”

The speaker schedule includes Ann Marie McCauley of Lazy Suzan Designs presenting kitchen renovation design ideas and Chef Brandon Miller of Carmel restaurant Mundaka. Both are veterans of the Inspired Expo.

“I like to participate because the attendees are engaged and seem to love food,” says Miller. “They are truly interested in learning about what the demonstrators are discussing.”

Based on his studies in Spain, Miller will display how to make a traditional Spanish paella. He promises “tips and tricks to make your meal taste and look authentically Spanish.”

McCauley will share before and after pictures of real kitchens.

“This allows the homeowner to visualize the potential their kitchen has,” she says. “I also answer questions that may relate to their specific project.”

McCauley emphasized that the expo, formerly known as The Monterey Home and Garden Expo, is a helpful because many independent business owners who do not have traditional storefronts are available for homeowners.

Another perk: Expo visitors get a chance to win a $500 Home Depot gift card.
