A California alternative energy investment and advocacy group has signed up K Street powerhouse KL Gates to lobby for a tax code change that backers say would bring fresh capital into green power projects.

Lobbying filings show that the California Clean Energy Fund has retained KL Gates to lobby in favor of bipartisan bills in both chambers that would make the “Master Limited Partnership” structure available to investors in green energy projects.

The filing announcing the lobbying in favor of the “Master Limited Partnerships Parity Act” was effective in mid-April but only showed up in the federal database of the filings Aug. 2.

The Hill has more on the legislation – chiefly sponsored by Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas) – here and here.
