London, 30 July 2013 – On September 24 25, major operators from the USA’s wind industry will gather at Green Power Conferences’ 5th annual Optimising Wind Power OM: USA in Chicago, USA, to share expertise and develop solutions for improving the operating margins of their wind assets. Contributions to the debate are already scheduled from leading industry players, including Infigen Energy, E.ON Climate Renewables North America, Duke Energy Renewables, EDP Renewables, AES North America Generation and RES Americas.

“With recent EIA figures estimating the fixed cost of onshore wind OM to be around $40 per kw per year, it’s easy to see why it’s important to make sure that you have a robust OM strategy as a wind operator” said Paul Clark, Head of Wind Division at Green Power Conferences, “We are delighted to be convening the fifth edition of this event, following a record turnout in 2012, bringing almost 30GW of operator and developer expertise together (and that’s just on the speaking faculty)”.

Key issues that will be addressed during the two day event include practical tips on when to think about OM in the lifecycle of a wind project, optimizing turbine components and maximizing the life of operating assets, managing risk in mixed fleet operations and the role of retrofitting and repowering in wind farms. There is also a special pre-conference workshop on September 23 offering practical tips on how to ensure that OM contracts are iron-clad, protecting the bottom line of the project, with insights from Acciona North America, Goldwind and Cleantech Law Partners.
