ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Officials said Wednesday using more solar energy would mean more jobs in Minnesota.

A new bill introduced at the State Capitol Wednesday would dramatically ramp up Minnesota’s investment in solar energy.  State Rep. Will Morgan said the bill would require a 10 percent solar energy standard for utilities and would create more than 2,000 jobs.

Morgan said the Twin Cities area actually has better solar resources than places like Jacksonville, Fla., and Houston, Texas. A recent poll by the Minnesota Environmental Partnership showed a majority of Minnesotans are OK with paying slightly more per month on their electricity bills for more solar power.
