A Hub energy buying group launched a program today with SunEdison to help its nonprofit members get deals on solar power.

PowerOptions said it partnered with the company to offer competitive rates on solar energy to its 500 members, which includes hospitals, universities and municipalities. The program was unveiled in Woburn today.

“Our members are eager to take advantage of this first-of-its kind program and we are confident they will see best-in-class pricing, conditions and advice as they get started,” said PowerOptions CEO Cynthia Arcate.

With California-based SunEdison, PowerOptions is expanding from its electricity and natural gas programs that streamline $160 million to $200 million in annual purchases.

PowerOptions helps its members navigate the complex energy market, offering a collective buying program that establishes terms and conditions and a pricing formula for each project. That helps members budget their energy costs, save time on contract negotiations and save money on their energy bills.
