Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electrical energy, either directly using photovoltaic (PV), or circuitously using resolute solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking methods to spotlight a great area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic transfers light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. Each of these two types of solar energy requires the manufacture of two separate forms of solar panels.

One is named a solar collector that is used to warm up water and then supply it in a tank for distribution when needed. The other kind of panel is called a solar panel, or more officially, a photovoltaic panel. Solar panels collect the light rays from the Sun and switch it into direct current electricity, which can then be changed to alternating current using an inverter. Resolute Solar Power (CSP) systems exploit lenses or mirrors and tracing systems to center a massive spot of sunlight into a little ray.
