The Missouri Solar Energy Industries Association (MOSEIA) requested Friday that the Missouri Public Service Commission investigate payments made by Kansas City Power Light to solar installation company U.S. Solar.

According to MOSEIA, Kansas City Power Light was mailing solar rebate checks directly to the installer rather than to the account holders.

On June 3, MOSEIA notified Kansas City Power Light requesting the power company “take immediate action and review the applications that they (U.S. Solar) have filed and verify that they are accurate and properly describe the installed systems.” MOSEIA has yet to receive a reply from Kansas City Power Light.

“Based on the information we have available, we strongly believe the Missouri Public Service Commission should conduct an independent audit,” said Heidi Schoen, MOSEIA’s executive director, in a statement.

MOSEIA is a more than 70 member organization that represents in-state and national solar businesses.
