Reinforces the theme ‘Every drop counts’

Mini Club of Oxford International School, in collaboration with Club Enerji, Tata Power’s nationwide energy conservation movement, today organised an event to celebrate 2013 as the “International Year of Water Cooperation.” The objective of the initiative is to educate the students regarding water and its importance in our lives. In order to make this initiative a great success, the Mini Club also organized an exhibition and an awareness rally to instill the message of sustainability among the young students.

An exhibition on Rainwater Harvesting was organized in the school auditorium where primary and secondary students displayed their projects on the topic with much enthusiasm. The students’ efforts focused on related topics such as primary sources and uses of water, secondary-drought prone areas, water conservation, and management, rain water harvesting tools etc. The students were also educated on the need to save water as “‘every drop counts”.

Close to 200 students from class V to X participated in the rally and exhibition. They prepared posters and slogans with crucial messages on water conservation. The students of Club Enerji feel a sense of responsibility towards this cause and sensitized their peers and society.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power said, “Tata Power Club Enerji devotes itself to educating the young children on the values of life and our responsibility towards natural resources. Through continuous association, the children have now developed a profound sense of responsibility towards the environment and sources of energy like fuel and water. We are extremely proud of their progress and look forward to continued association for the betterment of society.”
