19 de febrero de 2013, 12:43Bangkok, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) Thailand has become the regional leader in alternative energy today after unveiling the largest wind power farm located in Southeast Asia.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra presided over the official opening of the new complex in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima, which will generate about 1,000 megawatts of electricity within eight years.

Shinawatra urged the Ministry of Energy to guarantee power stability while cutting reliance on fossil fuels.

The wind farm project not only corresponds to the country’s consumer demand but also benefits society and the environment as it will effectively reduce the country’s carbon-dioxide emission by 270,000 tons and cutting fuel oil imports.
