ENERGY SAVINGS: Stuart business owners looking to slash their energy bills — and help clean the air in the process — should pay attention to the Stuart Commission’s meeting on Monday.

Commissioners likely will approve an initiative to participate in the Property Assessed Clean Energy program, PACE, that would enable the city to promote energy-saving construction and retrofits for businesses.

Low-interest loans through PACE would allow businesses to finance improvements to their property. These include new air-conditioning systems, solar water heating and other energy-saving measures.

Florida Green Energy Works, based in West Palm Beach, oversees PACE programs in municipalities throughout the state.

Stay tuned.
