Thunderstorms, strong wind gusts coming to metro Detroit

A rainy day is forecast for metro Detroit on Thursday, with up to an inch expected as thunderstorms could arrive in the afternoon.

Nothing severe is expected, but wind gusts of up to 30 m.p.h. are possible, said National Weather Service meteorologist Rachel Kulik.

But on Friday, the weather service predicts wind gusts up to 60 m.p.h. DTE Energy issued a storm alert Thursday morning advising people to stay away from downed power lines. It offers tips and advice for dealing with power outages here:

Moisture is expected to continue into Friday morning, when perhaps a couple tenths of an inch could fall, Kulik said.

Daily high temperatures are expected to continue reaching above freezing until Sunday, when a high of 25 degrees is predicted, according to the weather service.
