COVINGTON LANDS WIND ENERGY COALITION: Covington Burling has signed on to the FAIR Coalition, which according to the Senate lobbying disclosure is focused on renewable energy and will “advocate policies that would promote and develop utility-scale wind power projects in the United States.” Muftiah McCartin, Gerard Waldron, William Wichterman, Roderick DeArment and George Frampton are all working for the coalition. First Wind, Invenergy, Pattern Energy and OwnEnergy, Inc., are among the companies funding the effort.

WHAT DOES $5K GET YOU? Not much when it comes to attending a Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) fundraising weekend, according to a PI tipster. K Streeters who attended the New York Democrat’s annual “IMPACT Weekend” the last weekend in July had a full slate of activities, including a Rockefeller Center studio tour and happy hour with Schumer staffer Mike Lynch — but the lawmaker only attended the Sunday afternoon New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays game Sunday afternoon.

WOMEN-CENTERED PAC LAUNCHES: There’s a new game in town looking for women political candidates who are pro-peace, liberty and science to drive the country away from unnecessary war and support science-based legislation on things like climate change, according to Treasurer Rob Close. The Vote Women In PAC of Lowell, Mass., is looking to create a more “genuine political landscape,” he says. “Men have led this country down some pretty stupid paths, and this is coming from a male perspective,” said Close, who helped form the committee with his wife. He said the group was not a pro-Hillary 2016 PAC, but a nonpartisan effort to root greed out of politics with the promotion of qualified female candidates.
