A 1.5 MW on-site wind power project that will be built on the Collier quarry site in Dunfermline, UK has been sold to Infinite Renewables.

Building work on the 100 metre turbine will commence in the next month with completion due before the end of the year.

Once commissioned the scheme, which was brought to planning consent by Wind Direct, will have the capability to generate up to 23% of the electricity required to power Collier Quarrying Recycling Ltd as well as help the business reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.

The sale marks the beginning of a new partnership for Wind Direct, with Infinite Renewables taking the lead on driving forward the current and new projects in the Wind Direct pipeline, which includes over 20 new sites nationally with a potential generation capacity of 50 MW.

Infinite Renewables director, William David, said: ‘Wind Direct has a wealth of experience in delivering on-site renewable power solutions for many of the UK’s energy intensive industries. Working together we can further strengthen the Wind Direct brand and trigger the development of many more sites.’

In 2014, Infinite Renewables had brought seven turbine installation projects into operation, two near Milford Haven, Carmarthenshire, Devon and the others at Ebbw Vale and near Bridgend.

The 80 kW Bridgend project was built to help a local farm generate electricity. The other sites each have a capacity of 500 kW from a single turbine.
