A Virginia Beach gathering of offshore wind advocates and national industry leaders is coming to a close with a town hall meeting tonight on the green energy.

The 7 p.m. meeting¬†will include a representative from the Offshore Wind Development Coalition, the Atlantic Wind Connection and Dominion Virginia Power, which has expressed an interest in developing wind farms off the state’s coast.

The national conference sponsored by the American Wind Energy Association brought together players from various segments of the emerging wind industry in the U.S. A study issued during the conference forecast the creation of more than 70,000 jobs in the Mid-Atlantic states during a 10-year build-up to developing wind farms off the coast from New York to Virginia.

The meeting will be held at the Virginia Aquarium Marine Science Center’s IMAX Theater, according to the VA4Wind website. The center is located at 717 General Booth Blvd.

The meeting is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are requested, according to the coalition’s website. To learn more, visit the site.
