I finally went and did something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time — I created a Wind Energy Facts page here on CleanTechnica.

Yes, we have had a World Wind Power resource area for a long time, but that is much more editorialized and is simply aimed at being fairly introductory.

When I am aching for a wind energy fact, I can often recall an article title about that and then find the relevant article and wind fact, but that’s not always the case and I imagine that’s normally not the case for most of our readers. So, I’ve finally created a very focused page with lists of various wind energy facts. Check it out, bookmark it, share it with others, and comment on it if you have an extra fact to throw in there or if you have a request for one or more facts not yet included. That page will be updated regularly.

Of course, people love charts and graphs, so I’ve tried to include those wherever possible. Right now, I’ve got 14 charts and graphs included over there. Head on over to check them all out. I think these are my three favorites from those fourteen (when it comes to the topic of wind power):

I also want to create an EV Facts page like this… but I have no idea how long it will be until I get to that. And I have created a similar solar energy facts page, with the style just being a little bit different.

  • I don’t see Belgium in the Top Wind Countries. What’s the reason for that?
    Thank you.

    • Hmm, after a lot of snooping around, this is what i’ve discover:

      1. Belgium wasn’t on GWEC list of top wind power countries in 2012:

      2. so, i didn’t have the data to put into my spreadsheets.

      3. i’ve found that it was there for 2011, with 1078 cumulative MW of installed wind.

      4. i’m going to throw that in with the 185 MW of offshore wind power capacity added in Belgium in 2012 to see where that lands. will also go ahead and email GWEC for full data. thanks for the catch. you live in Belgium?

      • so, per capita, it looks like it would come in at #17 now (below France), with about 103 MW per million people. but i’m going to wait on GWEC’s response to finalize.
